YOUNG’S MOTORSPORTS TALLIES TWO TOP-10 FINISHES AT TALLADEGA


TULLMAN SCORES CAREER BEST TRUCK SERIES RESULT AT TALLADEGA

Max Tullman made his third-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start this past weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. After two practice sessions and qualifying on Friday, the Chester Springs, Penn., native started the 94-lap race from 30th and earned a career-best ninth-place score when the checkered flag flew for the Fr8Auctions 250 on Saturday afternoon.

Tullman started his career-first NCWTS Superspeedway race from 30th on Saturday afternoon. The opening stage was fairly uneventful and the 21-year-old was able to advance to finish Stage 1 in 25th.

STAGE 2 RECAP:

On lap 22, Tullman brought his Yurpal.com No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado to pit road for two tires and fuel. He restarted Stage 2 from 20th and remained there for most of the middle stage. When the caution flag came out at the end of the second stage, Tullman had advanced to finish 16th.

Tullman brought his Yurpal.com No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado back to pit road on lap 42 for four tires and fuel. He restarted the final stage from 16th and survived a multi-truck accident on lap 59. He pit again for fuel and a tear-off on lap 62 and restarted in 13th. Tullman survived another caution on lap 82 and another multi-truck accident on the final lap to advance through the field and finish ninth, a career-best score for the 21-year-old.


HILL OVECOMES LATE RACE PENALTY AND DAMAGE FOR TOP-10 FINISH AT TALLADEGA

Austin Hill made his second-career start at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway this past Saturday afternoon in the Fr8Auctions 250. After two practice sessions, he advanced to the second round of qualifying to earn the 10th starting spot for Saturday’s race. The Winston, Ga., native overcame penalties and damage on the last lap to earn a tenth-place finish.

STAGE 1 RECAP:

Hill started the 94-lap Fr8Auctions 250 from the rear as a result of unapproved adjustments after Friday’s qualifying session, but quickly worked his way towards the front of the field. On lap 18, Hill brought his Young’s Building Systems No. 02 to pit road for fuel and a wedge adjustment. He rejoined the field and finished the opening stage in 30th.

Hill restarted the second stage from the pole and led a total of eight laps before the caution came out on lap 40 to end Stage 2. The 24-year-old rounded out Stage 2 in sixth-place.

STAGE 3 RECAP:

On lap 42, Hill pit for two tires and fuel to restart the final stage from fifth. He survived two cautions, narrowly missing a multi-truck accident on lap 59. On lap 60, Hill came to pit road for fuel only and restarted in third. On the restart, he was making a pass for the lead and was forced below the yellow line. Unfortunately, NASCAR deemed the pass illegal and Hill had to serve a pass-through penalty. When the caution was displayed again on lap 82, Hill was running in 17th one lap down to the leaders, but in the Lucky Dog position. Four laps later, he regained his lap, and pit for four fresh tires and fuel to restart in 16th with six laps remaining in the Fr8Auctions 250. He was back inside the top-10 when he was caught up in a multi-truck accident on the final lap, but he was able to keep his Young’s Building Systems No. 02 running and crossed the line in 10th.


THORSON’S GOOD RUN ENDS EARLY FROM DAMAGE

Tanner Thorson made his first ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Superspeedway start this past weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Thorson ran eight laps in each of the two practice sessions on Friday and qualified 17th for the Fr8Auctions 250. After running within the front pack for most of the opening two Stages, the Minden, Nev., native was involved in an accident during the closing laps of Stage 2, ending his day and resulting in a 31st-place finish.

Thorson started the 94-lap Fr8Auctions 250 at Talladega Superspeedway from the 17th position. Despite being his career-first start at a Superspeedway circuit, the 22-year-old raced within the top-15 for most of the opening stage and was running 14th when the caution came out ending Stage 1.

On lap 22, Thorson brought his Nyloxin/K&L Ready Mix No. 12 to pit road for fuel only and restarted Stage 2 from 21st. With 10 laps remaining in Stage 2, Thorson was running in 11th. Unfortunately, in the closing laps of the stage, he was caught up in a multi-truck accident and brought his No. 12 Chevrolet Silverado to pit road on lap 38 for four tires, fuel and to repair the damage from the spin. Thorson rejoined the field and ended Stage 2 in 31st.

Thorson returned to pit road on lap 42 to make more repairs to his Nyloxin/K&L Ready Mix No 12 Chevrolet Silverado and restarted the final Stage in 30th, one lap down to the leaders. On lap 48, Thorson spun on the backstretch and brought the caution out. He was able to come to pit road for tires and make more repairs. On lap 51, Thorson returned to pit road and took his No. 12 Chevrolet Silverado to the garage as a result of too much damage, ending his day and relegating him to a 31st-place finish.
