YOUNG'S MOTORSPORTS LEAVES ATLANTA WITH TOP-10 FINISH


DILLON EARNS TOP-1O FINISH IN FIRST OUTING WITH YOUNG’S MOTORSPORTS


Fresh off of his Daytona 500 win, Austin Dillon partnered with Young’s Motorsports to run the GoShare No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Dillon started Saturday night’s Active Pest Control 200 benefitting Children’s Healthcare from 13th and gained three positions on a late race restart to finish 10th.

Dillon reported that the GoShare No. 20 was tight about halfway through Stage 1. At the end of the stage, crew chief Andrew Abbott called Dillon to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments to aid the tight conditions.

The Welcome, N.C., native was running 17th when the caution was displayed for debris on lap 59. Dillon brought the GoShare No. 20 to pit road two laps later for a wedge adjustment to tighten up the Chevrolet Silverado and help forward drive.

With 30 laps to go in the Active Pest Control 200, Dillon was running in the 18th position. When a late race caution came out with six laps remaining in the event, Dillon was running in 15th. Abbott called the No. 20 to pit road for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. He then restarted 13th for the green-white-checkered restart. In the closing laps, Dillon was able to advance three positions to earn a 10th-place finish.



LATE RACE TIRE ISSUE DERAIL STRONG RUN IN HOME STATE FOR HILL

Austin Hill returned to his home state of Georgia this weekend for the Active Pest Control 200 benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He started 18th for part two of Saturday night’s double header at Atlanta Motor Speedway. After running as high as 10th, the Winston native cut a tire on the green-white-checkered restart resulting in an 18th-place finish.

The opening stage of the 130-lap Active Pest Control 200 only saw one caution in the opening laps of the race. Halfway through Stage 1, Hill reported that the United Rentals No. 02 Chevrolet was tight. At the end of the stage crew chief Chad Kendrick called the 23-year-old to pit road on lap 44 for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment to aid the tight conditions.

Stage two went back to green on lap 47, but the caution was displayed on lap 59 for debris. Hill reported to Kendrick that the No. 02 was starting to come to him, but he just needed some track position. At the end of the stage, the United Rentals team changed four tires, added fuel and made another track bar adjustment to Hill’s Chevrolet.

A late race caution brought Hill back to pit road for four tires and fuel on lap 128. On the green-white-checkered restart, Hill cut a tire and came back down pit road, relegating him to an 18th-place finish.

NEXT RACE:

Young's Motorsports heads to Sin City and will be back on track Thursday, March 1 for two practice sessions followed up with qualifying and the NCWTS race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday, March 2.
