Nearly one year after making his most recent NASCAR start at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Matt DiBenedetto is preparing to return to the same track for his first national-series appearance of 2026.
DiBenedetto will join Young’s Motorsports for the Focused Health 302 on Saturday, October 3, driving the team’s No. 42 Magnesium Performance Wheels Chevrolet in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase event.
The return creates a fitting full-circle moment. DiBenedetto’s last NASCAR appearance came at Las Vegas in October 2025 with Viking Motorsports. In his 30th and final start of the season, he started 17th and finished 19th in the No. 99 Chevrolet.
The Las Vegas effort will showcase DiBenedetto’s authentic relationship with Magnesium Performance Wheels, which recently collaborated with him on custom forged magnesium wheels for his Carbon 65 Edition C7 Corvette Grand Sport.
Designed to reduce rotational and unsprung weight, the wheels help improve acceleration, braking, steering response and suspension performance.
Williamsburg Contracting will also support the effort, continuing its longstanding relationship with DiBenedetto.
“I’m so excited to be getting back behind the wheel at Las Vegas! I’m incredibly thankful to MP Wheels for believing in me and making this opportunity possible, and to my good friends at Young’s Motorsports for welcoming me into the No. 42 Chevrolet,” said DiBenedetto.
“What makes the partnership with MP Wheels so special is that it really started as a genuine friendship. I’m a huge gearhead, I love their product, and I already run their wheels on my personal Corvettes.
“They saw firsthand how passionate and loyal my fanbase is and how much they wanted to see me back at the racetrack, and they jumped right in to make it happen. That means a lot to me.
“I’m also grateful to have Williamsburg Contracting back on board and for their continued support of me over the years. The excitement and support from everyone involved has been incredible, and I can’t wait to get to Vegas, climb back in a racecar, and represent all of these guys on and off the track. I’m ready to go have some fun!”
DiBenedetto, 35, brings more than 240 NASCAR Cup Series starts and a NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory — earned at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in 2022 with Rackley W.A.R. — to his Young’s Motorsports debut.
In 127 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts, the Grass Valley, Calif., native has earned one top-five and six top-10 finishes, including a career-best fifth-place result at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway in the spring of 2025.
The NASCAR veteran will make his fifth series start at Las Vegas, where he has recorded three consecutive top-20 finishes. That stretch includes back-to-back 16th-place efforts in the fall of 2024 with RSS Racing and the spring of 2025 with Viking Motorsports.
While the Las Vegas appearance — the 28th race of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season — is currently a one-race agreement between DiBenedetto and the Mooresville, N.C.-based Young’s Motorsports team, he remains focused on returning to NASCAR competition on a larger scale in 2027.
Earlier this summer, DiBenedetto and his wife, Taylor, announced that they are expecting their first child in February 2027.
The 201-lap Focused Health 302 is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time (7:30 p.m. Eastern Time) on Saturday, October 3, live on The CW, the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
