PAPERCLIP PREVIEW: The Young’s Motorsports team travels north to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this weekend for the fourth race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season. Austin Hill will be behind the wheel of the United Rentals No. 02 Chevrolet and Reid Wilson will make his NCWTS debut in the OEM2 Powered by TrüNorth™ Warranty Programs of North America (TrüNorth™) No. 20.
HILL AT MARTINSVILLE: In five previous starts at the half-mile circuit, the Winston, Ga., native has earned one top-10 score. Last year, while racing for Young’s Motorsports, Hill gained eight spots in the spring Martinsville event to finish 14th and followed that up with a 16th-place finish in the fall.
KENDRICK’S MARTINSVILLE STATS: In 19 starts as a crew chief at Martinsville Speedway, Chad Kendrick has two wins – one in 2009 with Timothy Peters and one with Joey Logano in 2012. He also has four top-five scores and 10 top-10 finishes.
KENDRICK THIS WEEKEND: “I always look forward to getting back to Martinsville,” said Kendrick. “It’s been a good track for me as a crew chief and Austin has put together some really great runs there as well. As long as we can stay out of trouble, I think we can contend for a really good finish.”
WILSON’S DEBUT: The 21-year-old is set to make his career-first NCWTS start this weekend. Wilson has competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) as a part of the Young’s Motorsports’ driver development program. ABBOTT’S HISTORY: Crew chief Andrew Abbott worked with Wilson in all eight of his NKNPSE starts with Young’s Motorsports and the duo earned four top-10 finishes. In two starts at Martinsville Speedway as a NCWTS crew chief, he has two top-20 scores, the best being a 13th-place finish with Young’s Motorsports principal, Tyler Young.
ABBOTT ON THIS WEEKEND: “I am excited to work with Reid this weekend at Martinsville,” said Abbott. “It might be his first time in a Truck, but we have history together and I think that will benefit us in his debut. Hopefully we can put together a good run.”
